Ferry crossing and the North Island! so far..

The ferry was pritty cool on deck with amazing views of the Marlborough sounds and the cook straight ocean. the sun was shining and the wind was blowing a little to much! Below deck was another story , it was cramped full with people sleeping all over the place and the smell of the toilets wasn’t pleasant!
We landed in Wellington, which was well busy! so we pretty much just got out of the city straight away, and drove up along the west coast through the hobbit hills, at least thats what we called them, we then cut accross to the other side of some mountains and visited a bird sanctuary where we saw kakas being fed and a kiwi in a nocturnal house, and a cool looking lizard!
On our drive to Hawks bay we saw a huge windmill farm spread across the whole of the horizon, and we got to Hastings and drove up a hill where the landscape around had changed from being lush and green to really barren and dry, but it was well pretty. We got a DOC campsite leaflet telling us where all the free campsites were, so its free camping all the way from then on!

You guys seem to be havin hell of an adventure. Tei- your new years eve sounds like that silly woodcraft camp but with more booze involved! Im really jealous of all the white sandy beaches n the penguins booo!
Im off to the Himalayas in India in august (I hope) for a couple of months which will be awesome, it makes me feel better knowing I’m gonna have a big ole adventure soon as well, my boyfriends just gone to ecuador for 3 months so im feeling down in the dumps about being in shitty norwich lol! Can’t wait to see you guys again and hear all about your BIG adventures xxxxxxxx

you buggers! Those hot springs sound so lush! Not like the disappointing piss stinking muddy swimming pools like in Peru.
